Vend Point of Sale supported and recommended Hardware for iPad, MAC & PC. A buying guide to purchasing the right Vend Hardware for your business.

Choosing the right hardware for a new Point of Sale software such as Vend can be quite confusing, especially if it your first time. 

The Cash Register Warehouse team can understand why this may be, so we decided to put some information together which we hope will be beneficial. Choose the vend supported hardware to match the operating system connection type you require. 

Star mPOP All in One Solution

The Star Micronics mPOP™ is a Mobile Point of Purchase solution which is also the first combined cash drawer and printer combination designed for Point of Sale. The mPOP™ is a compact all-in-one solution with Bluetooth and USB connectivity which is great for popup stores, kiosks and areas where space is limited. It also looks stylish and modern so could adapt into any workspace or environment. The Star mPOP™ is only compatible with iOS (iPad).

Vend Supported Receipt Printers

It is important to choose the the correct supported receipt printer with Vend and this is also dependant on the platform being used BUT it is not only the platform or operating system, it also depends on how you intend to connect it. 

Star TSP143III Thermal Receipt Printer (LAN / Ethernet) - iOS, MAC & PC

The Star Micronics TSP143III LAN connects to the Wifi router via Ethernet cable just like a standard printer on the network. This is why all operating system are able to connect to the printer whether they are connected by cable or Wireless This is why the iOS and iPad can connect to. The devices may be communicating by cordless to the router but the printer must be connected to the wireless router/modem via a cable as this is the only interface it comes with. This is also great because more than one device can connect to the printer at any one given time. In saying that, remember that the cash drawer connects the printer so this must be taken into account if multiple devices are using it.

Star TSP143III Thermal Receipt Printer (USB) - iPad, MAC & PC

The Star Micronics TSP143III USB (Also known as the TSP100) connects via USB cable directly to the MAC or PC so is great for desktop solutions.

As you will see, we also have this displaying as being able to connect to iPad... we didn't make a mistake, it IS possible. So long as you are using the later style iPad with the latest OS and lightning charger, you are able to connect the iPad using the lightning cable directing into the receipt printer. This is great for single terminal solutions where only one iPad is required as it is a direct connection. A great thing about this solution is that when you connect the iPad to the printer, it simultaneously charges the iPad at the same time!

Star TSP143III Thermal Receipt Printer (Bluetooth) - iOS & MAC

The Star TSP 143III-Bi Bluetooth Printer can be paired to either an iPad or MAC which provides fast and reliable setup but remember when doing this, there is a limitation by using the Bluetooth interface. You can only connect one device to the Bluetooth Printer. 

For example: Only one iPad can connect to the Star TSP143III-BI Bluetooth Printer at any given time. If you have multiple iPad, you cannot connect them all to a single printer. You CAN still connect other devices such as Bluetooth Barcode Scanners though.

Epson TM-T82II Ethernet / LAN / USB Receipt Printer - iOS, MAC & PC

The most economical Vend supported receipt printer is the Epson TM-T82II Ethernet/LAN/USB POS Printer. The TM-T82II Ethernet/LAN printer connect via cable to the wireless router via cable which allows you to connect any device whether it be a iPad, Mac or PC. The printer just needs to be connected within the same network. The great things about the version we sell is that is comes with a dual interface meaning it has Ethernet/LAN PLUS USB (USB Cable is NOT included). You can plug this into a MAC or PC using the USB cable but if you do wish to use an iPad, it does need to be hard wired.

Vend Supported Barcode Scanners

Barcode Scanners for Vend POS Software are simple to setup and operate so the most important thing to choose is the interface of either USB or Bluetooth. There are recommended Barcode scanners which are supported by Vend so it is important that this is noted when you are purchasing. 

Socket Bluetooth Barcode Scanners - iOS & MAC

Vend support Socket Barcode Scanners for use with iOS & MAC as they are cordless but more importantly reliable! You can also purchase additional peripherals such as charging stations and stands which is ideal for Retail environments. There are two models in particular that are recommended which are the Socket S700 1D & the newly released Socket S740 which is able to scan 1D & 2D Barcode which ensure you are "future proofed". You can pair either of these in seconds and start scanning!

Motorola CS-3070 Bluetooth Barcode Scanner - MAC Only

The Motorola CS-3070 is recommended by Vend for MAC only. The tiny device is affordably priced and fits in a pocket or on a lanyard. It can be set to standalone mode for the batch scanning of barcodes.

Honeywell 1450G 1D & 2D Barcode Scanner (USB with Stand) - MAC & PC

The Honeywell 1450G is supported by Vend for use with MAC and PC connecting via USB Cable only. It comes with a stand and and be used as a gun style scanner or put into the stand and used in presentation mode. 

Vend Supported Cash Drawers

There are a couple of Cash Drawers that are supported and recommended by Vend but in reality, the drawer only needs to be 24v and have an RJ12 connection (telephone style) which connects to the DK or Drawer Kick port of the receipt printer. Vend requires a receipt printer in order for the cash drawer to open Automatically. You can turn the receipt printing off so you aren't wasting paper but Vend sends a command to the drawer to apply a voltage to the drawer kick port resulting in the drawer to open.

VPOS EC-410 24 Volt Cash Drawer - Full Sized

The VPOS EC410 Cash Drawer Consist of 5 Notes and 8 Coin section and comes with a 3 year warranty. It is heavy duty and connects directly to the receipt printer using the RJ12 cable connection. The dimensions of this drawer are 410mm (w) x 415mm (d) x 110mm (h).

VPOS EC-350 24 Volt Cash Drawer - Compact

The VPOS EC350 Cash Drawer is a compact cash drawer and consists of 4 Notes and 8 Coin section and comes with a 3 year warranty. It is heavy duty and connects directly to the receipt printer using the RJ12 cable connection. The dimensions of this drawer are 350mm (w) x 405mm (d) x 90mm (h).

Vend Supported Label Printers

Vend currently supports one brand of label printer which is the Dymo. 

The Dymo Label Printer is supported by MAC & PC via USB cabled Interface.

There are two sizes of labels which are:

Dymo S0722520 Return Address Labels - 25mm x 54mm, 500 Labels

Dymo S0929120 Multi Purpose Labels - 25mm x 25mm, 750 Labels
