What is the difference between the Epson TM-T82IIIL vs Epson TM-T82III POS Receipt Printer models? We have provided you with the answers so you know which printer best suits your business.

Epson has released two new POS Receipt Printer models which are the Epson TM-T82IIIL & Epson TM-T82III.

There are some differences between these two models so we thought we would share this with you and hope that this will assist you with purchasing the best Epson receipt printer for your business.

The Epson TM-T82IIIL is an Ultra Low print volume model which is great when you aren't printing a lot of receipts or orders whereas the TM-T82III is for Low to Medium Print volume. This is an important factor when choosing the printer because if you want your printer to get a good life span for use long term, you are best to spend a little more initially than to have to replace your printer earlier than intended. Both models have a Cash Drawer (Drawer Kick / DK Port) for use with 24v POS Cash Drawers. This will allow the cash drawer to open automatically once a transaction has been finalised.

One important factory between the models is the warranty period. The TM-T82IIIL has a 24 Month (2 Year) Warranty whereas the TM-T82III has a 36 Month (3 Year) Warranty.

Interface Types

The Epson TM-T82IIIL is available in either USB & Serial (Dual Interface) OR Ethernet Only (Single Interface). These are non removable interfaces.

The Epson TM-T82III is available in USB & Serial, USB & Parallel or Ethernet & USB. Each of these models have a dual interface.

Power Supply

The TM-T82IIIL has an in-built Power Supply and the TM-T82III has an external power supply. The external power supply does mean it has a power block, however this does make replacing an blown power supply much easier as the TMT82IIIL would require you get this repaired at an Epson Authorised Repair Centre.

Print Speed

The TM-T82IIIL prints at a maximum speed of 200mm/second.

The TM-T82III prints at a maximum speed of 250mm/second (50mm per second faster than the previous TM-T82II model).

Printer Thermal Head Life Span

The TM-T82IIIL Print Head has a life span of 100Km.

The TM-T82III Print Head has a life span of 150Km.

Wifi or Wireless Dongle Connection

The Epson TM-T82IIIL is unable to have a Wireless Dongle attached so if you require wireless printing, you will need to go with the Epson TM-T82III model as this is the only one supported. We have the Epson TM-T82III Wireless printer which includes the dongle as a bundle on our web store.

Which Epson Printer would we choose?

The Epson TM-T82III would be our choice between both models. There is nothing wrong with the TM-T82IIIL version and if you mainly require it for opening the cash drawer and printing the odd receipt, it is completely fine. We just find that the TM-T82III is a little more robust, faster printing, longer warranty (3 Years) and also has the dual interface which is great when it comes to the Ethernet (LAN) model as you can switch between these if your business configuration changes. The external power supply can be an added bonus because if it decides to blow or play up, as a business, you require fast turn around and as much up time as possible so we would prefer less delays.
